Vienna has at all times been the centre
of Austrian furniture production and is
known for the high standard of its craftsmanship.
Not only furniture of great artistic level
but also chinaware, glass, and silver were
already exported to distant countries in
the 18th century.
Among the most outstanding talents of the
Viennese artistic carpenters was Joseph
Danhauser. His designs are highly appreciated
- two thousand of his original sketches
are being kept at the "Österreichisches
Museum für angewandte Kunst" in
Vienna and his classic interpretations of
the Biedermeier inspire young and old with
their timeless elegance and their functionality.
